What's the issue?

You may be:

  • a large organisation who wants to increase your in-house capacity to deal with environment and sustainable development issues

  • a smaller business who wishes to train its own staff to deal with day-to day environmental management issues

  • a further educational establishment who wishes to build in some practical applications of the theories and concepts you are delivering in the main academic component of your course.
  • or
  • a school wishing to introduce pupils to the concepts of environmental sustainability, sustainable development and the day to day practicalities of adopting those principles.

What's the answer?

CookPrior have developed a number of stand alone modules which can be delivered in a conventional class room or workshop approach plus via our coaching and mentoring scheme. They are all also available through our E - Support package.

We can deliver these at your own premises, a local country house hotel and conference centre or put you in contact with further education establishments in the North of England and Scotland who present our modules.

Modules available

We are currently offering the following units:

  • Business Strategy and the Environment.
This module gives an introduction to fundamental business principles, processes and functions in the context of increasing environmental pressures. Participants analyse current environmental business practice in a range of companies with a view to formulating environmentally orientated strategies.
  • risk diagram

  • Environmental Technology and Regulation.
This module looks at current UK & EU environmental regulation concentrating on the requirements of IPPC. It examines current best practise within the context of BAT and relevant BREF notes. Participants will on completion of the module be equipped to manage and deliver the necessary regulatory requirements to conduct their organisations IPPC applications.

  • Environmental Decision Making.
This module introduces participants to a systematic way of approaching environmental decisions. The main theme of this module is that there are many choices to be made in our every day lives which affect the environment. It is every bodies responsibilities as individuals and organisations for making these choices. Participants will be able to appreciate the complexity of environmental decision making in a messy situation, be able to utilise common hazard and risk assessment approaches. They will also learn how to apply a flexible process to identifying economic and politically viable options to the environmental issues facing themselves and their organisations

  • Quantified Assessment of Risk.
This module considers the concept of risk management and the ability to quantify risk. Participants will learn the difference between perceived and actual risk. There will also be consideration of the ethics of applying the outcomes of these analyses and the role of stakeholder consultation in any implementation exercise. Community representatives and elected officials would find this element particularly attractive. They will be able to apply common hazard and risk analysis techniques in situations relevant to themselves and their organisations.

This module concentrates on the development and operation of documented systems to manage the environmental effects of organisations. Please contact us to discuss your specific requirements. We will then tailor our presentation to suit your curriculum needs and abilities of the pupils

For the training and education programme to be successful, its important for the entire Management Team to be fully supportive. The first step will provide opportunities for managers to understand the implications of the programme of activities, and what will be expected from them.

The benefits of the training and education programme

The programme will enable your organisation to:

Identify cost savings - our experience is that participants on our modules have identified benefits within their organisations which go beyond cash neutral. It has been shown to contribute to bottom-line improvements.

Employee awareness - in our experience once employees are aware of the environmental impact and risks of the processes on your site and that the management take these seriously they respond positively

Help gain Regulatory compliance - regulators like to see evidence of a well run operation: an externally delivered training can help you do that.

Reduce the likelihood of potential liabilities - by having well trained staff, you'll be less likely to fall foul of environmental legislation.

How can we help?

We can tailor our assistance to suit you organisation. We can act as a mentor to one of your own staff and help them through the process.
